Estado do Design

By observing design’s current overview we come across a strong gap within it: the lack of design theorization. Considering this problematic, the present research aims to characterize and question design’s current state, focusing on the portuguese context where it lays. In five critical debates on design practice, documented and commented, the project seeks to foster the theoretical basis around the discipline. It’s in the discussion that the sharing of opinions and perspectives is promoted, questioning the practice of design in the social, cultural and political spheres. Estado do Design, the project that combines the five debates, develops itself as a catalyctic project of discussion and reflection within portuguese design. In the cross-referencing of perspectives and knowledge, the project offers an illustrative view of the current state of design.
